It is with great pleasure that we announce the publication of the new book “Nutrition for Children with Cystic Fibrosis” by pediatrician Mrs. Anastasia Gambeta, with the support of the Panhellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association.
The book offers a comprehensive approach to the nutritional needs of patients living with Cystic Fibrosis. In a simple and understandable way, it provides practical advice and guidelines for dealing with the nutritional challenges presented by the disease. From understanding the basics of nutrition in Cystic Fibrosis to dealing with specific problems such as pancreatic insufficiency, pancreatic enzyme intake and refusal to eat, this book is a valuable guide for parents, carers and health professionals.
Cystic fibrosis is a difficult and demanding chronic disease, which affects patients’ breathing and nutrition. For decades, adequate calorie and nutrient intake has been an ongoing battle for Cystic Fibrosis patients and their families.
In our struggle for “Breathless Breath”, our Association is pleased to support the publication of this book. A valuable tool in the hands of patients, families, caregivers, to help them face the challenges of the disease with knowledge and optimism. A useful guide for health professionals, educators and the general public, which aspires to fill the gap in information about Cystic Fibrosis and the importance of nutrition in the disease. The book will be distributed free of charge by the Association at the annual Cystic Fibrosis Conference on Sunday 1 December, 9.30-15.30, at The Stanley Hotel Athens (near Metaxourgeio metro station).
