Statements that inspire us
The Stella Georgaki, Associate Director, Stella Georgaki. Board Member and face of the mural , stated:
“My story is a journey from despair to hope, proof that the impossible can become reality. I am the only Cystic Fibrosis patient in Greece who managed to have two lung transplants; a battle that seemed lost, but turned into a life-changing victory. A journey I could not have made without the power of organ donation and my anonymous donor heroes who gave me life.
The mural in Tzaneio is not just my image; it is the image of all those who are fighting for Unlimited Breath, for a second chance at life. I send a message to every citizen. Your gift can save lives, just as it saved mine.”
The President of the Association, Anna Spinou, stressed:
“This year’s award is dedicated to Marianna, the 17-year-old Cystic Fibrosis patient, who has been in critical condition at the Onassis Hospital for 3 months now, waiting for a life-saving transplant to continue living, and to all patients who are fighting for a second chance at life. We dedicate this award also to the memory of Vassilis Palios, the Secretary General of our Association, who fought for transplants until his last breath and to all those who lost the battle but inspire us every day to continue our fight.
The Be a Life Donor campaign proves that raising public awareness brings results, as shown by the record number of organ donations in Greece in 2024. In fact, from 2025, registering as an organ donor via SMS will make it easier for even more people to participate in this sacred cause. But we are not complacent, we continue our fight for Marianna, for every patient, for every precious breath, so that no one is left behind.”
