The Hellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association has been awarded for its successful actions and its significant contribution to improving the quality of life of patients with Cystic Fibrosis and their families in Greece.

The awards encourage patients and caregivers as members of Associations to offer their volunteer work with greater professionalism!

Silver Healthcare Award 2021 for “Breath Unlimited - Be a Life Donor” Campaign

The Hellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association received the Silver Healthcare Award in the category “Patient Associations, Information/Awareness/Prevention Actions” at the Healthcare Business Awards 2021 organized by Boussias Conferences and Health Daily for its successful transplant and organ donation campaign “Breath Unlimited – Be a Life Donor.”

Actions included: the illumination of the Parliament building, a dedicated TV spot (here), a mural in the Hospital “Agios Panteleimon” picturing an 18-year-old transplanted patient, and an online challenge. The Honorary Supporter of the Campaign was the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou (video here), while 77 leading executives from the Healthcare sector participated as Ambassadors. The campaign received the Silver Healthcare Award 2021. In addition, the campaign tripled organ donor registrations, with 631 new registrations on the National Transplant Organ Organ Donor Registry between December 2020 and January 2021.

The award was dedicated to the memory of the late General Secretary of the Association and a CF patient, Vassilis Palios, who fought for transplants until his last breath.

Prix Galien Greece 2021 - Patient Initiative Award

The Patient Initiative Award 2021 was won by the Hellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association in the category “Best Effective Negotiation of the Patient Association with the Agencies,” awarding the method of approach and cooperation with stakeholders (Ministry of Health, EOPYY, health journalists, scientific companies) at the Prix Galien Greece event 2021 at Zappeio Megaro. The Prix Galien awards are the pharmaceutical Nobel Prizes, a critical institution recognizing essential work in medicines. The PRIX GALIEN GREECE 2021 recognized the pivotal role of the Hellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association and its efforts to ensure early access for Greek patients to the revolutionary treatment Kaftrio, saving the lives of 30 critically ill Greek patients and laying the groundwork to begin access to treatment for all eligible Cystic Fibrosis patients in Greece.

The Prix Galien Greece event was attended by prominent personalities, among which U.S. Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt, the Minister of Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Deputy Minister of Health Asimina Gaga, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Giorgos Amyras, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Nikolas Giatromanolakis, the Deputy Minister of Research and Technology Christos Dimas, the President of the Network for Reform and Europe Anna Diamantopoulou, as well as the President of EODY Panagiotis Arkoumaneas.

 

Gold Healthcare Award 2016 for “Each Breath” Campaign

The Hellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association received the Gold Healthcare Award 2016 in the category “Patient Associations, information/awareness/prevention actions” for developing the “EACH BREATH” awareness campaign.

The HealthCare Business Awards ceremony took place on Friday, September 9, 2016, rewarding business excellence, innovation, development initiatives, and best practices of businesses, agencies, and organizations in the health sector.
