The new developments, which change the future of Cystic Fibrosis will be presented in the Hybrid Conference “Cystic Fibrosis: Preparing for the Future”, organized by Hellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association.

The conference will be held on Sunday, 3 December 2023, at 9:30- 16:30, in INNOVATHENS Technopolis of Municipality of Athens (event entrance: Piraeus 100, Gazi). The Conference is under the patronage of City of Athens, Eurordis-Rare Diseases Europe and Cystic Fibrosis Europe. 

The Conference is held on the occasion of the European CF Awareness Week, 20-25 November 2023 and of the 40th anniversary Hellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association.

“Completing a long path of 40 years of successful actions, HCFA’s goal continues to be the improvement of the quality of life of CF patients and their  families and the raising of awareness about CF and prevention. Cystic Fibrosis is the most common genetic disease with more than 500,000 carriers in Greece – about 4-5% of the general population – and approximately 850 patients all over the country. The Conference will be open to public with free access”, says Anna Spinou, President of Hellenic Cystic Fibrosis Association.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of HCFA, the retired pediatrician and Founding Member of the Association, Mr. Adam Georgios, will be awarded. There will also be a presentation of the first interactive children’s book for CF in Greece, “Secret Mission: CF”, an initiative of HCFA for young patients and their caregivers.

There will be welcome talks of representatives of health organisations, while clinicians from CF centerswill present useful information on:

• treatments & care for patients with CF
• effect of innovative treatments on the respiratory and digestive systemand on rare CFTR mutations
• changes in the symptomatic treatment of the disease with the innovative treatments
